The cool character Aloe variegata, also known as tiger aloe, has thick sword-shaped leaves that are alternatively white and green. The green can go chocolate during periods of stress or more exposure to sun. Fine white teeth line the leaf margins but are not sharp. The flowers, tubular and reddish-orange, form on tall stalks and are loved by hummingbirds. Makes an excellent container specimen or focal piece in dish garden with non-Aloe succulents.
