Lapidaria is part of the family Aizoaceae, which includes the various forms of plants known as "Ice Plants" and those known as "Mimicry Plants". Closely related to Lithops. Stems are 2.5" in diameter, and cluster to form clumps. Beautiful silky golden yellow flowers to 1.5" in diameter during autumn months. Decomposed granite is often an excellent media as it has many trace minerals and is similar to the South African quartz fields where these and others of the "Stone Mimicry" are found growing. Bright, filtered light with ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry during active growing season. Is somewhat cold hardy, but best to provide frost protection to prevent possible scarring.
Part of what makes succulents so fascinating are the myriad ways they express themselves throughout the year, depending on light, season, temperature, soil, and hydration. For those and other reasons, the plants you receive may not look exactly as they appear on our website.
