DESCRIPTION

Lapidaria is part of the family Aizoaceae, which includes the various forms of plants known as "ice plants" and those known as mimicry plants. Closely related to Lithops. Stems are 2.5" in diameter and cluster to form clumps. The leaves rounded-triangular, as thick as wide, usually grayish white or pinkish at the base with rest of the leaf paler. Beautiful silky golden yellow flowers to 1.5" in diameter during autumn months. Decomposed granite is often an excellent media, as it has many trace minerals and is similar to the South African quartz fields where these and others of the "stone mimicry" are found growing. Is somewhat cold hardy, but best to provide frost protection to prevent possible scarring.
