Description

Mammillaria camptotricha, native to Mexico, is a globular cactus with long tubercles that have golden twisting soft spines nearly obscuring the body. Offsets freely to form wide clusters. When one looks down at the mass of twisted spines, one is reminded of a "bird's nest". Small white flowers.

Bloom time: Spring
Size: Up to 6" high
Requires porous cactus mix with adequate drainage
Prefers filtered, bright light with ample airflow
Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch
Protect from frost
Hardiness: USDA Zone 10a (30-35° F)
